Two issues of the very scarce broadsheet 'Maidstone and Kentish Gazette&apos.Including the numbers 2,126, for Tuesday 1st January 1839, and 2,285, for Tuesday 16th November 1841.These two issues contain a wealth of adverts for residences, services, positions, medicines, and other products, alongside and advert for the first number for 1839 of 'The Athenaeum', and articles on an explosion at Wallsend Colliery, the murder of John Cunningham Junior in Manchester, the 'mysterious' murder of Thomas Hunter in Westmoreland, and the birth of the future Edward VII. Charming insight into life in Victorian England.Prior owner's ink inscription to the head of the 1839 issue. Unbound, as issued. Leaves are edge worn; large closed tear to the 1839 issue, smaller closed tears to the 1841 issue. Stamp to the head of page 3 of the both issues, and to the head of the first page of the 1841 issue. Leaves are a little age-toned with some spots and handling marks. Prior owner's ink inscription to the head of the 1839 issue. Good . Ill.: None. Good .
