He is best known for his novel Madame Bovary (1857). In the publisher's original cloth binding, with the original unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, cloth is in excellent condition with very light shelf wear to the front board. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean except for offsetting to the end papers. The odd spot to the fore edge, not affecting the pages. Dust wrapper is bright and smart, with a little shelf wear to the extremities and a small tear to the spine of the wrap.
