Containing issues of the daily broadsheet from No. 26,860 Tuesday January 2 1853, to No. 29,320 Saturday December 29 1860.Consisting of thirty-four issues from early 1853, and twenty-one issues from late 1860.Founded in 1769, 'The Morning Chronicle', was notable for having been the first steady employer of essayist William Hazlitt as a political reporter, and of Charles Dickens as a journalist. It was the first newspaper to employ a salaried woman journalist, Eliza Lynn Linton. Verne attributes to the Chronicle a position hostile to Fogg and sceptical of his chances. Unbound, as issued. Leaves are generally bright, with only the odd light handling mark or spot to 1853 issues, and with more significant instances of spotting to and handling marks 1860 issues. With the stamp of the 'Morning Chronicle Newspaper' to the first, second or final leaf of each issue.
