It was the first newspaper to employ a salaried woman journalist, Eliza Lynn Linton. Verne attributes to the Chronicle a position hostile to Fogg and sceptical of his chances. Unbound, as issued. Leaves are generally bright, with only the odd light handling mark or spot to 1853 issues, and with more significant instances of spotting to and handling marks 1860 issues. With the stamp of the 'Morning Chronicle Newspaper' to the first, second or final leaf of each issue.
