First edition of this very scarce early volume. Volume II from 'The Civil Engineer and Architect's Journal', incorporated with the 'Scientific and Railway Gazette&apos. Rebound in half calf with marbled boards. Embellished with pleasing engravings throughout. Collated, lacking four engravings due to pages 199-206 being missing from the work. With fascinating coverage of relative topics, such as an article on the Nelson Monument, summaries of society meetings, stone for the new Houses of Parliament and observations on the restoration of ruins. Rebound in half calf, with marbled boards. Externally, calf to the board corners are heavily worn and faded. With large loss of leather to the bottom half of the spine and rubbing to the extremities, heaviest to the joints. Marks to the boards. Internally, generally firmly bound. Lacking pages 199-206 and the relative engravings. Pages are generally bright and clean, with an inscription to the front free endpaper, and occasional inscribed underlines and marks to the work.
