'Mary Stuart' was written by English poet and dramatist, John Drinkwater, who was known for his popular plays, such as this one. This particular performance is based on the life of the infamous Scottish queen, being a tale of betrayal, ambition and power. As mentioned in Crawford's inscription, this play was performed in New York at the Ritz Theatre between March and April 1921, with the likes of Leslie Palmer, Russ Whytall and Charles Waldron being among the cast. Bound in the publisher's original quarter cloth, with paper-covered boards. Bound in the publisher's original quarter cloth, with paper-covered boards.
