A 1905 edition of this work in a full calf binding with gilt detailing to the boards and spine. All edges gilt. Binder's stamp of Bumpus Ltd. to the front paste down.Previous owner's ink inscription to the title page. Tennyson's renowned elegy In Memoriam A.H.H. originally published in 1850, for his Cambridge friend Arthur Henry Hallam. Hallam died aged twenty-two of cerebral haemorrhage. This poem, which explores death from the conflicting perspectives of science and the Christian faith, was a favourite of Queen Victoria. In a full calf binding. Externally, sound, with rubbing to the extremities and spine, and a little cracking to the joints. Internally, firmly bound.
