The first edition of Henry Corry Rowley Becher's account of a late nineteenth century trip to Mexico.Illustrated with twenty mounted albumen prints - each retaining their original tissue guard - and with a lithograph plate of hieroglyphs. One albumen print detached and loosely inserted. This is good as often all the albumen prints detach as they were not stuck on very well Collated, lacking the lithograph railway map however, hence half the price otherwise. The author, Henry Cory Rowley Becher, was an English-born Canadian attorney, based for most of his career in London, Ontario. This work presents a diary of his travels to and within Mexico in February and March of 1878, and features an extensive appendix. The author was admitted to the Royal Geographical Society in the year of its publication. In the publisher's original cloth binding. Bumping to back strip head and tail, with minor loss of cloth to back strip tail. Front hinge strained, and tender. Rear hinge strained but firmly held. Internally, generally firmly bound, but with one plate detached and loosely inserted. Pages a touch age toned due to paper type, with only the odd handling mark. Good . Ill.: Not Stated. Good .
