A very scarce little children's book printed on fabric by Raphael Tuck & Sons. Rarely seen in commerce. A book of eight 'Pretty Birds', richly illustrated in full colour, containing images of a thrush, a kingfisher, paroquets, a jay, a starling, blue tits, siskins and a cuckoo. Raphael Tuck & Sons was a business selling pictures, greeting cards, and postcards. The Blitz of 1940-1 destroyed the company's headquarters, which included originals for most of their series, and the company never recovered. In the publisher's full cloth bindings, printed on fabric. Externally, generally smart, with light creasing and slight fraying to the extremities. The odd mark to cloth. Internally, firmly bound.
