He was a keen collector of naval history and of eighteenth-century literature in contemporary bindings. In a half morocco binding, with gilt detailing to back strip and marbled paper covered boards. Significant rubbing to front joint, otherwise externally very smart. Front hinge strained, but firmly held. Bookplates to front pastedown, and verso of front free endpaper. Internally, firmly bound.
