Charmingly inscribed by Aldiss 'Olive gave me a shilling today for putting up a trellis in the garden- with it I bought this. Brian 31/1/51&apos. Underneath, his wife Olive has replied 'Alas! So underpaid. But I could never pay in kind for all the love and labour given for my sake. So as a symbol a shilling in no less adequate than a sovereign&apos. Comprised of a collection of essays and meditations surrounding science, religion and philosophy from English polymath and author, Sir Thomas Browne. Bound in the publisher's original cloth. No. 92 of the Everyman's Library. Bound in the publisher's cloth. Externally, sound, with slight rubbing to the head and tail of the spine and the odd mark to cloth. Cloth has split to the rear joint, with backstrip attached only to the front joint. Small tears to the front joint. Backstrip is faded. Pencil inscription to the front endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright and clean. Previous ownership inscription to the page preceding the title page. Good . Ill.: None. Good .
