He purchased Beeleigh Abbey during the Second World War, an impressive twelfth century monastery in Essex. Beeleigh housed his library, one of the largest private libraries in England. In a full morocco signed binding, with gilt detailing. Externally, lovely. Joint heads and tails starting slightly, with boards firmly held. Bookplates to front pastedown and front free endpaper.
