Bound in the publisher's original cloth. Illustrated with a frontispiece and in text drawings throughout. This work, commonly known as Mandeville's Travels, is a book written between 1357 and 1371 that claims to be the travel memoir of an Englishman named Sir John Mandeville. In it, he writes of his travels across the Islamic world. With many translations made over time, the work acquired extraordinary popularity. The text for this edition is taken from the copy published from a 1725 manuscript from the Cottonian Library.Although the stories are often fantastical in nature and unreliable, figures such as Christopher Columbus were heavily influenced by this work.
