Illustrated endpapers of a map of Cobbett's country by A. E. Taylor. Alfred Edward Taylor was a mapmaker and artist in the early twentieth Century. Though prolific and successful during his life, his work has since been overlooked.With numerous in-text illustrations by John Nash. Nash was a wood engraver and illustrator of landscapes and still-lives, especially of botanic works.A first edition thus, corrected and with additions from G.D.H. and Margaret Cole. In the publisher's original cloth backed marbled paper covered boards. Externally, excellent. A touch of shelf wear to back strip tails, and minor bumps to back strip heads. Internally, firmly bound.
