Originally a Danish prince, George was born in Copenhagen, destined for a career in the Royal Danish Navy. At 17 years old, he was elected king by the Greek National Assembly and reigned for almost fifty years (the longest in modern Greek history). His reign was characterized by territorial gains as Greece established its place in pre–World War I Europe, before his assassination in Thessaloniki, Greece. Written by Walter Christmas, a Danish author, naval officer, diplomat, and spy for MI6. In the original full white cloth binding. Externally, very smart with minor wear to the extremities and the odd small mark to the boards. Internally, firmly bound.
