The first edition of this very scarce work.The collected letters of Augustus Simon Frazer, containing a total of 181 letters, penned between 1812 to 1815. Frazer commanded the artillery at the British invasions of the Rio de la Plata in 1807, and as part of Wellington's staff during both the Peninsular War and the Waterloo Campaign.Illustrated with a frontispiece, one folding map, and two maps. Collated, complete. Edited by Major-General Edward Sabine, who also served in the Peninsular War. He was also a noted ornithologist, and was the 30th president of the Royal Society.Twenty-six pages of publisher's adverts to the rear. In the original publisher's cloth binding. Externally, smart. Light bumping to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities. Spine is a little faded. Very light rubbing and marks to the cloth. Hinges are starting but firm. Bookseller's label to the rear paste down. Internally, generally firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean with a few scattered spots. Gift inscription to the half-title. Very Good . Ill.: Not Stated.
