Charles Albert d'Arnoux, best known as Bertall (1820-1882), was a French illustrator, engraver, caricaturist, and early photographer. In this work, he observes life away from home in the winter, spring, summer and autumn through words and pencil sketches. In a quarter morocco binding, with pebbled cloth boards. Externally, smart, with light shelf wear to the boards and a little rubbing to the tail of the spine. Front hinge is slightly strained to the front blank but is firmly held by cords.
