'The Joy Makers' tells the story of "a society whose members are controlled by synthetic forms of release that corrode their sense of reality", as outlined by John Clute in 'The Encyclopedia of Science Fiction&apos. Divided in three parts, this novel takes place in a utopian society which is entirely dedicated to the pleasure principle. Bound in the publisher's cloth, with the original, unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, excellent, with light shelf wear only. Stamp and date of '1964' to the front free endpaper. Dust wrapper is very smart, with light edge wear and a very small tear to the front joint tail.
