The first edition of this very scarce work.'Advice to a Young Reviewer' is a satirical look at literary criticism of the day, in particular poking fun at the methods of the 'Edinburgh Review&apos. After the publication of this pamphlet, the Review replied with their on attack on Oxford. Their reply spurred the author to write four more replies defending the Oxford system. This classic of literary parody was written by Edward Copleston, a churchman and Provost of Oriel College, Oxford. Externally, unbound. Internally, the title page and final leaf of text have detached from the textblock, the remaining textblock is generally firmly bound.
