As brothers they were highly influential in mid-nineteenth-century scientific and political circles. Bound in half black calf with green cloth boards. Externally, sound with rubbing and minor bumping to the extremities. Fading to the spine with marks to the boards. Front hinge failed to volume I and II with the front joint tender to volume IX and X. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright with light scattered spotting and age toning to the extremities.
