It went on to sell 65,000 copies within the first five months of publications.This novel is a Bildungsroman, following an orphan who is rescued from her abusive home by a lamplighter. By Maria Susanna Cummins, who is best known for this work. In a half crushed morocco binding with marbled paper to the boards, bound by F. Bedford. Externally, fine. Internally, firmly bound.
