Chandrashekhar Dhundiraj Deshpande (1912-1999) was an Indian geographer and author who worked to promote geography as a discipline in India, especially in schools and colleges. His work Western India: A Regional Geography discusses the geography, climate, agriculture, geology and industry of Western India in the mid-twentieth century, with special reference to Gujarat, Maharashtra and Karnatak.Included with this work is his article 'Geography and the Indian Census 1951', reprinted from The Indian Geographical Journal, Volume XXIV, No. 4, October-December 1949. In this work, Deshpande examines the subject of Census maps. One work in the original paper boards, the other bound with two staples.
