Created by Mary Tourtel, a British artist best known as the creator of the comic strip Rupert Bear. Written and illustrated by Alfred Bestall, a British author who wrote and illustrated Rupert Bear for the London Daily Express, from 1935 to 1965. This set includes: Rupert, 1971. With stories including: Rupert and the Popweed, Rupert and the Early Bird, and Rupert's Swimming Bird. Rupert, 1972. With stories including: Rupert's Deep Sea Adventure, Rupert and the Learner, and Rupert and Gwyneth. Rupert, 1973. With stories including: Rupert and the Waterfall, Rupert's Paper Salad Plate, and Rupert and the Flying Boat. In the original pictorial paper covered boards. Externally, very smart with light bumping to the extremities. Sticker residue to the front board of the annual for 1972. Internally, firmly bound.
