This satirical work presents the experiences of a governor appointed to a post in Canada between 1835 and 1838, sent to the fictional and remote Island of Cacona by the British government.Illustrated with charming vignettes by J. Walker. G. Ducharme's bookplate to the front paste down. With the blind stamp of O. F. M. Quebec to the title and first page and the odd library mark to the endpapers. Bound in contemporary half cloth with marbled paper-covered boards. Externally, very smart, with slight rubbing to the boards and extremities. Slight loss to paper covered boards. Pencil inscription to the front endpaper, with a bookplate and ink inscriptions to the front paste down. Internally, firmly bound.
