Title: The World Grown Young: Being a Brief Record of Reforms Carried out from 1894-1914
Description: London, W. H. Allen and Co. 1892. First edition. Cloth. A scarce first edition of this fictional record of the life of British reformer Philip Adams. First edition. Scarce work. A fictional record of the reforms passed by Philip Adams, an English millionaire and philanthropist born in Sheffield, between the years 1894 and 1914. This work seeks to answer the question: if provided with boundless wealth and a reasonable amount of rational philanthropy, to what use would the ordinary Briton, unprejudiced by party spirit, desire to put the enormous power which their wealth would confer? Supposedly by his secretary and confidant, William Herbert, a pseudonym of an unknown British writer. In the original red cloth binding. Externally, sound with rubbing and light bumping to the extremities. Fading to the spine with the odd mark to the boards. A small split in the cloth to the head of the front joint. Front hinge starting but firm. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright with the odd spot. Light spotting to the endpapers with a contemporary ink inscription to the front endpaper. Good . Ill.: None. Good .
