Comprised of seven volumes of The Annual Register, the long-standing reference work which was published by the Dodsley brothers annually from 1758 and is still running to this day. The annuals were originally compiled and edited by Edmund Burke, and contained reviews to the years politics, history and literature. This collection is comprised of 'The Annual Register, or a View of the History, Politics, and Literature' for the years 1767, 1768, 1769, 1770, 1771, 1772 and 1774. All volumes are second editions of the work, with the exception of the 1769, 1770, 1771 and 1772 volumes, which are the third edition.These registers are filled with interesting topical events from each noted year, including the Boston Tea Party protest in Massachusetts found in the 1774 volume, the death of Pope Clement XIII outlined in the 1769 volume, the Russo-Turkish War of 1768-74 found in the 1770 volume, and many others. Uniformly bound in full calf. Externally, sound, with rubbing and bumping to the extremities. Boards to 1767, 1768, 1771 and 1772 have been rebacked, retaining the original boards, with endpapers renewed. Light marking to boards, with tape residue to the front board of 1769 and 1774 volumes. Boards detached to the 1769, 1770 and 1774 volumes, with these volumes also lacking the spine label. Front free endpaper detached to 1769 volume, with the first and last few pages detached with the boards to the 1774 volume. Internally, firmly bound. Pages generally bright and clean, with the occasional mark. Ink inscription to the first blank. Good Only . Ill.: None. Good Only .
