The first edition of these two issues, the only two issues produced by publisher Beaverbrook, modelled after 'The Rupert Bear Adventure Series', which was published between 1948 and 1963.Issue No. 1 contains the stories 'Rupert in Mysteryland' and 'Rupert and the Missing Pieces', while issue No. 2 contains the tales 'Rupert at Rocky Bay' and 'Rupert and the Green Buzzer&apos.Illustrated throughout in colour by Alfred Bestall.Rupert Bear, a cornerstone of British culture since his first appearance in 1920, was originally created by Mary Tourtel, in order to win sales for the Daily Express from its rivals, the Daily Mirror and the Daily Mail. The enduringly popular character has since appeared in a number of television and film adaptations.With the former owner's inscription of James Nash to the head of front wrap of No. 1. In the publisher's original illustrated paper wraps. Light spotting to wrap perimeters, most concentrated to fore edge of No 1 front wrap. Small ink mark to tail of No 2 front wrap.
