It is a classic of the genre, and was immensely popular when it was published, going through 745 printings before 1650.Originally written in Latin and published around 1418 to 1427 by Thomas a Kempis, a canon regular of the late medieval period.Register runs as: *-**12, A-N12, O2-O12, P12, Q2-Q11.Collated, bound without one plate, and leaves O1, Q1, and Q12.Collated from Jisc from a copy held at the University of Oxford Libraries. In a full calf binding. Externally, a little rubbed. Light bumping to the extremities. A small amount of loss and lifting to the head and tail of the spine. Lacking the spine label. Hinges are weak. Lacking the endpapers. Internally, binding is strained in places. Pages are a little age-toned with the occasional spot and handling mark. One plate is detached but present.
