Externally, generally smart. Light bumping to the head and tail of the spines and to the extremities, resulting in a small amount of loss of leather to the extremities. Minor rubbing to the boards and spines, heavier to Volume III, with loss of leather to the boards of Volume III, heavier to the rear board. Light damp stains to the boards of Volume I and II. Some light marks to the boards and spines. Prior owner's ink inscription to the front paste downs, and to the rear endpapers of Volume I. Rear hinge of Volume I and the front hinge of Volume IV are starting but firm. Bookplate to the recto of the front endpaper of Volume III. Internally, Volumes I and IV are generally firmly bound, Volumes II and III are firmly bound. Pages are very lightly age-toned with the occasional spot and handling marks, as well as a few small and faint tide marks. The first leaf of text in Volume III is working loose. Good . Ill.: None.
