The fortieth book of the Biggles series, which was written for young readers, and features James Bigglesworth as a fictional pilot and adventurer. These popular works were written by William Earl Johns (1893 -1968), who was himself a pilot in the First World War. In this novel, Biggles, Algy, Ginger and Bertie meet Marcel Brissac from the French police. Brissac is attempting to trace a mysterious aircraft, which Biggles suspects was used in a robbery. In the publisher's original pictorial cloth binding, with the original unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, cloth is very smart, with just a touch of fading to the head and tail of the spine. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright with the odd spot, more so to the end papers. Dust wrapper is generally bright, though a little sunned to the spine and spotted to the rear, flyleaves and reverse of the wrap. Chipping to the head of the spine and to the folds of the flyleaves.
