Only two records of this work being held institutionally, at the Dalhousie University Libraries, Canada, and the University of the Witwatersrand Library, South Africa.A concise history of St. Etheldreda's School in Pretoria, now known as St. Mary's Diocesan School for Girls, with a preface by H. Rider Haggard. Founded in 1871, the school is one of the oldest in Pretoria, as is one of the most prestigious schools in South Africa. This work contains an interesting passage on the school during the annexation period of Pretoria, from about 1877 to 1880. In his preface, Haggard describes his experiences in the capital during this period. Illustrated with a frontispiece, and fifteen plates.Bookplate of Elsie MacDonald to the front paste down. Collated, complete. In the original publisher's cloth binding. Externally, generally smart, with some light marks to the boards and spine. MInor bumping to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities. Spine is a little discoloured. Spots to the endpapers. Small tears to the head and tail of the rear joint. Bookplate to the front paste down. Internally, firmly bound.
