A charming collection of reminiscences from a continental tour of Europe, with chapters on French and Germans, the family scene, wine, students, castles, traditions, omens, food, and much more. Dated from the British Library. In the original half red calf binding with patterned boards. Externally, sound with rubbing and light bumping to the extremities. Fading to the spine and the odd mark to the boards. Minor loss to the head of the spine and a crack to the front joint. Front hinge just starting but firm. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright with light scattered spotting, predominantly to the first and last few pages. Contemporary ink inscription to the front endpaper.
