Both Henry and Elwes studied plant life, collaborating to provide this comprehensive study of trees, with Henry devising a new system of leaf and twig identification. The work provides detailed descriptions of the trees, with accompanying photographic illustrations. In the publisher's original cloth with the original clipped dust wrappers. Externally excellent to volumes V and VI with slight bowing to the boards, shelf wear and a minor bump to the tail of the front board to V with the odd slight mark to the rear. The rest are generally smart with damp stains to the tails of the boards, shelf wear, cockling to the tail of the boards to volume III and slight bowing. Tidemarks and slight cockling to the tail of the endpapers to volumes VII, I, II, III, and IV. The wraps are generally smart with tidemarks to the tail of the versos, the odd closed tear, marks, and sunning to the rear of volume VII.
