Two volumes in uniform half calf bindings with marbled boards. Eugène Scribe (1791-1861) was a French dramatist and librettist. He is best known for writing 'well-made plays' ('pièces bien faites'), an enduringly popular format, and as the librettist of many highly successful grand operas and 'opéras-comiques&apos. These two volumes are part of the series 'Répertoire du Théatre de Madame', and contain six plays written by Scribe in collaboration with other popular playwrights of the time.
