Collated, lacking one plate.Illustrated by Hablot Knight Browne, most often known by his penname 'Phiz&apos. As Phiz, he illustrated many of Dickens' novels, including 'David Copperfield', 'Dombey and Son', and 'Bleak House', as well as illustrating for 'Punch' throughout his life.Bound without half-title.In a half calf signed binding by W. F. Taylor of Windsor.'Little Dorrit' follows Amy Dorrit, who was born and raised in the Marshalsea debtors prison. It was originally published in monthly instalments over nineteen months, and this is the first edition published in book form. Rebacked, in a signed half calf binding, with back strip laid down. With marbled paper covered boards, and gilt detailing to back strip. Light rubbing to centre of boards. Evidence of bookplate removal to front pastedown. Internally, firmly bound.
