Volume one is illustrated with a coloured frontispiece, eleven coloured plates, and many in-text images. Volume two is illustrated with nine coloured plates and many in-text images. Volume three is illustrated with a folding coloured frontispiece, one coloured plate, and many in-text images. Volume four is illustrated with a coloured frontispiece, three coloured plates, and one double-page black-and-white plate, with many in-text images. Collated complete. Written by John Richard Green, an English historian. Edited by Alice Stopford Green, an Irish historian, and Kate Norgate, a British historian and one of the first women to achieve academic successes in this sphere. In the original half calf with marbled boards. Externally, sound with rubbing to the extremities. Fading to the spine and marks to the boards. Minor loss to the head of the spine of volume one.
