Title: Doctor Therne
Description: London, Longmans, Green, and Co. 1898. First edition. Cloth. A smart first edition of this exciting science fiction novel from popular Victorian writer H. Rider Haggard. First edition. Following a smallpox epidemic that sweeps across England. Written as an attack on the anti-vaccination movement of the time. Written by Sir Henry Rider Haggard, an English writer of adventure fiction romances set in exotic locations and a pioneer of the lost world literary genre. With rare white endpapers and publisher's name as "Longmans" to the tail of the spine rather than "Longmans & Co." as issued on copies with brown swan and sailing ship endpapers. A misprint on p. 96, line 12, where the word "issue" has been printed as "issued" as cited in "A Bibliography of the Works of Sir Henry Rider Haggard 1859-1925" by J. E. Scott. In the original brown cloth binding. Externally, smart with light bumping to the extremities and the odd small mark to the boards. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean with the odd small mark. Light age toning to the endpapers. Very Good . Ill.: None. Very Good .
