Author: Helen F. Grant Title: Rebellion in Spain
Description: Birmingham, Birmingham Council for Peace and Liberty, 1936. First edition. Paperback. A scarce pamphlet exploring the Spanish Revolution of 1936 from a British perspective. The first edition of this scarce work in the publisher's original paper wraps. The Spanish Revolution was a workers' social revolution that began at the outbreak of the Spanish Civil War in 1936. Much of the economy of Spain was put under worker control: factories were run through worker committees, and agrarian areas and small businesses became collectivized. This pamphlet, written by Helen F. Grant (a university lecturer in Spanish) and published by Birmingham Council for Peace and Liberty, examines the causes and events of the Spanish Revolution. She argues that this rebellion was a battle between Fascism and democracy, and needs Britain's democratic support, to prevent a Fascist intervention by Germany or Italy. In the publisher's original paper wraps. Externally generally smart, though sunned to the extremities. Staples are rusting. Two small stains to the front of the wrap, from the rusting staples of another work, presumably laid on top of this work at some previous point. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean. Very Good Indeed . Ill.: Not Stated. Very Good Indeed .
