In the original Latin.The very scarce first edition of this medical work, in which pharmacological materials - and the formulas of simple and compound medicines - are alphabetically arranged and accompanied with directions for treatment, dosage, prescription and use.The title page identifies that this 'manual' has been 'adapted for the use of the Bristol hospital&apos.Text leaves are interleaved with blanks, nine of which display medical notes in a contemporary hand. With the odd further ink annotation throughout the work, most concentrated between pages 35 and 40.A very scarce work, with only three records of printed copies, with the British Library, Wellcome Collection and Bristol University library each holding this work. In a half calf binding, with marbled paper covered boards. Light rubbing to back strip head, otherwise externally excellent. Front hinge a touch strained, but firmly held. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright. Text leaves generally clean, with the odd ink annotation. Text leaves interleaved with blanks, nine of which bear inscriptions in a former hand to either the verso, recto or both sides.
