Arthur Bettinson was a talented pugilist, becoming the English Amateur Boxing Association Lightweight Champion in 1882. Following this, in 1891 Bettinson co-founded the National Sporting Club, a place which this book labels as the home of boxing. This book explores the last twenty years of the National Sporting Club, located in London, presenting the history and many of the boxers which have surrounded the club. With sixty-two illustrations and a frontispiece, consisting mostly of photographs. Collated, complete. In the publisher's original red cloth binding. Externally, smart, with light rubbing to the extremities and slight bumping to the head and tail of the spine. A touch of fading to the extremities and the spine.
