In the original publisher's cloth binding, in the original unclipped dust wrappers. Externally, generally smart, with bumping and rubbing to the head and tail of the spines and to the extremities. Small tear to the tail of the front board of Volume I. A few light marks to the boards. Institutional label and stamp to the recto of the front endpapers. Dust wrappers are edge worn with chips and tears, with a large amount of loss to the head of the spine of Volume I and tail of the spine and rear joint of Volume II. Light age-toning and rubbing to the wraps. Prior owner's repairs to the reverse of the dust wrappers. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean.
