Baskett held a reputation for purchasing competing Bible printing business and absorbing them into his own. He wished to produce a high quality Bible, in a folio edition, that would become a presentation piece used in churches and aristocrats. This Bible was therefore produced.Illustrated with a vignette title page.Register runs as: [2], a-b2, [1], A-3X6, 3Y1, [4], A-Q6, R4, S1, A-E2, F1. Collated, complete. In a full calf binding. Externally, a little worn, with rubbing and marks to the boards and spine. A little surface loss of leather to the head of the front board. Bumping to the extremities. A small amount of loss to the head and tail of the spine, heavier to the tail, A small chip to the spine. A small amount of loss to the tail of the rear board. Hinges are a little strained but remain firm. Rear endpaper is detached but present. Ink inscription to the recto of the front endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are lightly age-toned and generally clean with only the occasional spot. Ink notes to the title page. Tidemark to the first and last few pages, with the occasional tidemark to the margin of a few further pages. Leaves 2U2 to 2U5 are working loose and edge worn. Good . Ill.: None. Good .
