One of the earliest books for children that combines visual and verbal narrative in book format, this piece is considered a precursor to comic books. Written and illustrated by Heinrich Hoffmann, a German psychiatrist known for this work. In the original quarter cloth binding with pictorial paper covered boards. Externally, sound with light shelf wear and chipping to the extremities resulting in light loss to the paper covered boards. Fading to the spine and marks to the boards. Internally, firmly bound.
