Written by Washington Irving, an American short-story writer, biographer, historian, essayist, and diplomat best know for his work Rip Van Winkle (1819). Illustrated by Randolph Caldecott, a British artist and illustrator. Bound by Riviere & Son. Bound in full tree calf with gilt. Externally, smart with rubbing and light shelf wear to the extremities.
