A complete five volume set of all issues (No.1 to 20) of The Cambrian Quarterly Magazine and Celtic Repertory, from 1829 to 1833. This quarterly magazine published articles on Welsh and Celtic history and literature. Written in the English language, it aimed to entice the reader into an interest for Wales, and also to preserve 'native lore' for posterity. Volume I contains the four issues for 1829; Volume II contains the four issues for 1830; Volume III contains the four issues for 1831; Volume IV contains the four issues for 1832; Volume V contains the four issues for 1833. These volumes contain a variety of essays, poetry, translations of ancient Welsh legends and literature, articles on the history and topography of Wales, articles on Irish life and culture, and biographical pieces. In half calf bindings. Externally, sound, though rubbed to the spine, joints and extremities. Gilt remains bright to the spines. Shelf wear to the boards resulting in losses to the marbled paper. Bumped to the front board of Volume III. Front hinge starting to Volume I. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright with the odd spot. Loss to the top corner of page 1 of Volume I, and to the title pages of Volume II, III, IV and V. Offsetting to pages 200 and 201 of Volume I. A couple of ink inscriptions to the text in Volume I and V. Closed tear to page 341 of Volume III. Very Good . Ill.: Not Stated. Very Good .
