A collection of the poetical works of Thomas Hood (1799-1845), who was a regular contributor for major publications during his lifetime such as 'The London Magazine&apos. This work was edited, with a critical memoir, by William Michael Rossetti (1829-1919), who was himself a writer, and also a founder member of the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood.Illustrated throughout by Gustave Doré, including a frontispiece and an engraved title page. Undated, dated through copies held at the Victoria and Albert Museum libraries. In a full tree calf binding. Externally, very smart, with just some light rubbing to the spine and extremities. Front hinge is somewhat strained but is held firmly. Front free end paper is coming loose. Otherwise, internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright and clean, with some spotting to the first and last few pages, and to the fore edge, affecting the occasional page. Very Good Indeed . Ill.: Gustave Doré.
