Clarke made his study for the British Association spending many months observing from lighthouses and remote islands. Clarke concluded that lighthouses and lightships were ideal places to collect migratory data. William Eagle Clarke was elected in 1903 to become a fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh. In 1918 he became the President of the British Ornithological Union. Clarke's work on bird migration is significant within the field of Zoology. In 1922 he was recognized for his scientific contribution with the Godman-Salvin Medal. This two volume set is the completed report first published in 1912.It includes illustrations, maps and weather charts that accompany scientific text. Volume one includes eight plates with one folding plate and volume two includes eighteen plates. Each plate shows patterns of migration from remote islands to weather charts. Collated complete. Bound in a half morocco binding. Externally very smart. Internally firmly bound. Spotting to the first and last pages but the pages are generally bright and clean with the odd spotting.
