Mansell. This smart set includes almost the complete works of Blackmore. Blackmore was one of the most famous novelists of the second half of the nineteenth century, best remember today for his 'Lorna Doone&apos.This set includes;'Clara Vaughan', complete in three volumes, published in 1864. The very scarce first edition. Half-title is present to each volume. Original publisher's cloth bound in the rear of each volume. Two pages of adverts to the rear of Volume III.'Cradock Nowell', complete in three volumes, published in 1866. Foyle of Beeleigh Abbey to the recto of the front endpapers. In a half morocco binding with patterned cloth to the boards. Externally, smart. Spines are a touch faded. Very light rubbing to the leather. Light spots to the fore edges. Small amount of loss to the front board of 'Clara Vaughan' Volume I, and to the rear board of Volume II. Light discolouration to the front hinge of 'Cradock Nowell' Volume II. A small amount of rubbing to the head of the spine of 'Maid of Sker' Volume I. A little fading to the extremities of 'Cripps' Volume I. Small marks to the top edges of 'Erema' Volumes I and II, cloth to the head of the front joint of Volume I is lifting a very small amount. Small mark to the tail of the fore edge of 'Mary Anerley' Volume II. Light marks to the front board and spine of 'Tommy Upmore' Volume II. Some light marks to the 1889 edition of 'Springhaven&apos. Small amount of lifting to the head of the front joint of 'Kit and Kitty' Volume III, with some marks to the front board. Rubbing is heavier to 'Fringilla&apos. Bookplate to the front paste downs and recto of the front endpapers. Bookplate to the front paste down of 'Mary Anerley' Volume II has been removed, with some loss of paper, and to 'Christowell' Volume III, the 1889 edition of 'Springhaven', 'Kitty and Kitty' Volume II. Note tipped-in to the front paste down of 'Tommy Upmore' Volume I. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and generally clean with the occasional scattered spot.
