She later became better known as a costume designer, in particular for being the chief designer for actress Ellen Terry for two decades. She designed the striking dress which Terry wore to play Lady Macbeth, which was made with one thousand beetle wings, to create a striking iridescent effect. In a half crushed morocco binding with marbled paper to the boards, bound by Zaehnsdorf. Externally, smart. Very light rubbing to the extremities. Only a couple of faint marks to the boards. Bookplate to the front paste down and to the recto of the front endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean. Fine . Ill.: Randolph Caldecott. Fine .
