F. leading people to believe it was based on the journals of Defoe's uncles, Henry Foe, who lived in the Whitechapel district of East London during the plague. The full description of the work entitled it as 'A Journal of The Plague Year, being observations or memorials of the most remarkable occurrences, as well public as private, which happened in London during the last great visitation in 1665&apos. This work is told from the perspective of an eye-witness account. With striking wood engravings throughout, by artist Peter Pendrey. In a black cloth binding, with silver detailing to the front and the original slipcase. Externally, excellent, with minor shelf wear and the occasional light mark. A touch of fading to the spine. Internally, firmly bound. Pages very bright and clean. Slip case in very good condition, with slight fading to the extremities and light rubbing. The odd chip to the case. Near Fine .
