He founded the Center for Advanced Visual Studies at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) where he taught from 1967 until 1974. With introductory essays by Sigfried Giedion, a Bohemian-born Swiss historian and architectural critic, and Samuel Ichiye Hayakawa, a Canadian-born American academic and politician who served as U.S. Senator for California from 1977 to 1983.
